Our good quality Ferro Silicon Manganese Mn65Si17 is an iron alloy composed of manganese, silicon, iron and a small amount of carbon, etc., is produced in an electric furnace. Its main raw materials are manganese ore, silica, coke, and it is supplemented with fluxes such as lime. This alloy is a commonly used composite deoxidizer in steelmaking and also serves as a reducing agent for the production of low-carbon ferromanganese and metallic manganese. Ferro Silicon Manganese is also called Silicon-manganese alloy. It is produced by simultaneously reducing manganese oxide and silicon dioxide in manganese ore (including manganese-rich slag) and silica in an electric arc furnace with carbon. 1. Deoxidation and Desulfurization in Steelmaking
Composite Deoxidation: Silicon (Si) and manganese (Mn) have a strong affinity for oxygen, effectively removing dissolved oxygen from molten steel, reducing iron oxide inclusions, and improving steel purity.
Desulfurization: Manganese combines with sulfur to form MnS, reducing FeS (which can cause hot brittleness in steel) and improving the hot workability of steel.
2. Alloying Function
Composition Adjustment: As an alloy additive, it allows precise control of silicon and manganese content in steel, improving mechanical properties (such as strength, hardness, toughness).
